Ethics of Multitasking

I enjoyed this article and quickly identified a number of elements that apply directly to Maneuverable Operations. They key item here is personal focus. I’ve talked a bit in other posts about organizational focus, but there is an assumption that there is a down stream personal focus and effectiveness. The impacts of uncontrolled multitasking work directly against that effectiveness.

The author refers to technology being morally neutral. It can be applied to good or bad, it doesn’t know or care. All meaningful successes are at some level Moral triumphs. Employees who feel that are being treated properly will always be more effective that those who do not.

People are not machines, the authors mention of downtime, free from technologically inspired contact or controls is a point well taken.
